Belgian Offshore Platform (BOP) asbl, a Brussels-based not-for-profit organisation representing the investors and owners of offshore wind farms in the Belgian North Sea, is looking for a

Secretary General

to start as soon as possible


Tasks & Responsibilities include (non-exhaustive)

  • Advocacy & awareness towards the government, the authorities, the grid operator, the regulator and the relevant stakeholders; defending the interests of the offshore wind energy investors;   
  • Information and communication strategy towards media, including social media;
  • Monitoring, analysis and recommendations on Energy and Climate Policy and related issues;
  • Managing and coaching the BOP team consisting of a technical expert and a communication officer, and managing HR, juridical and financial issues of the asbl;
  • Identifying issues of relevance to the members of the BOP in the area of maritime renewable energy and climate policy;
  • Developing excellent relations with decision makers, relevant stakeholders and influencers;
  • BE and EU policy monitoring and strategic analysis in the area of climate and energy;
  • Preparing and managing the Board meetings, as well as the Executive Committee meetings; planning and supervising internal working group meetings;


Required Profile

  • A University degree in law, science, economics or other relevant areas;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Solid knowledge of and proven exposure to the Belgian institutional setting and federal policy-making process in the energy and climate area
  • Comfortable and experienced with federal legislation and relevant publications and reports, also international;
  • Familiarity with general management;
  • Bilingual NL/F with excellent knowledge of English;
  • Full proficiency in ICT tools

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, multitask and meet strict timelines;
  • Ability and willingness to work autonomously


BOP offers

  • A full-time work contract under Belgian law
  • Salary according to experience plus an additional package of benefits
